School Council & Eco Committee
Helping every child to engage and lead change in their world, the school council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at St Peter’s. We look around for things that could be better and discuss what to do. Everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas to propose to move forward, and then start working on how to change things for the better.
Every year, we run an election campaign to vote for a new representative for each class. A good representative will speak at the council meetings to put things forward that their class is interested in. They will also keep their class informed about what is going on in the council meetings and put the minutes up in the classroom.
These councillors are in place so that pupils have a voice and are involved in decisions about the school that affect them. Through class discussion, all pupils have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas and take part in decisions that involve all of their classmates in reaching a democratic solution. Pupils at St Peter’s know that this is their school and that their thoughts and ideas matter.
