Safeguarding
School is my happy place. I know my teachers will always keep me safe.
Isabelle, Year 4 pupil
St Peter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils, regardless of age, gender, ability, race, culture, religion, sexuality or class, considering at all times what is in the best interests of every child. We recognise that some children may be especially vulnerable to abuse. We recognise that children who are abused or neglected may find it difficult to develop a sense of self-worth and to view the world in a positive way. We believe everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in ensuring that the children’s welfare and safeguarding is a top priority.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (Mr Thomas), Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Mr Burgham) and Safeguarding Governor (Mrs E Bell), alongside every member of our community, work together to make sure any child, staff member, parent, carer or family needing guidance, support or protection receive high quality and effective action as soon as this is identified.
The teaching of online safety is firmly embedded in the curriculum. In addition, the school invites a PCSO to come into School each year to talk to Year 6 pupils about staying safe online and in the real world. In line with KCSIE, all staff receive online safety training.
If you need to contact the school, confidentially, the email STPSSafeguarding@st-peters.org.uk is monitored only by the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
