How We Learn
Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.
Albert Einstein
Children enjoy learning at St Peter’s. We offer a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum, delivering high academic standards, whilst promoting a well rounded education. Emphasis is placed on quality first teaching of English and Maths and children are engaged in their work because it's planned, differentiated and delivered in a way that suits them. Every child is supported to be curious and is equipped with the necessary knowledge to succeed. Their skills are developed and their understanding is reviewed regularly. As a whole school, we set high standards and have high expectations, emphasising the importance of doing your best within and outside the classroom. Good manners and self-discipline are all highly valued and children are rewarded for effort and not purely output. Their positive attitudes are always praised.
There is as much to learn outside of our classrooms as there is within them. Pupils experience the joy of problem solving and risk taking through the active participation in Sports, the Arts, and regular enrichment days, developing their confidence and growing them as life-long learners. We prepare our pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life. We actively encourage our pupils to respect the fundamental British values of democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
The St Peter’s School curriculum is based around National Curriculum guidelines which have been enhanced to provide our pupils with the best possible personalised education. To ensure constant development and progression, the Headteacher and staff regularly review curriculum content and delivery.
