St Peter's School Prospectus

Giving children a safe, nurturing environment in which to be creative, to be spontaneous and unrestricted in their thought processes and actions, is a fundamental part of our school. This means they can stretch themselves and unearth talents and interests they never knew they had. This starts with the physical environment. At St Peter’s a new state-of-the-art building, the Cedar Hub, sits happily in the setting alongside the main Sunnylands building, all bordered by extensive and well-tended grass lawns, sporting facilities, pond and nature areas. Our peaceful, comfortable surroundings give children the support to be themselves, to explore their creativity without shyness or apprehension. Mindset is important too, and our staff understand that every child has the ability to be marvellously creative in every subject, from maths to music, history to hockey, given the right support. In art, throughout the year all pupils have the opportunity to develop traditional skills such as drawing and painting, but also experiment with textiles, fashion, architecture and design. And they sing, act and play. With our specialist music and drama teachers, singing and the Arts is central to life at school. In addition to class singing, the school has a Choir that performs at competition level, while there are orchestras, bands and many recitals, plays and concerts in which all children can take part. St Peter’s School Creative spaces, everywhere… The ability to be creative comes in many forms, from the brilliant, winning drop shot on our tennis courts, or that boundary shot on the cricket field, to the coding of a new game in our IT room or the ideas formed while sitting in the Victorian bay window of our beautiful library, reading books. At St Peter’s, creativity is nurtured and encouraged in every aspect of school life. Freedom to explore and challenge CREATIVITY
