Key Stage Two - Years 3 to 6.

We believe that learning should be delivered effectively, assessed regularly and should be challenging but enjoyable. The four year programme of the Junior School is designed to produce confident and competent learners who are able to communicate effectively.
Our curriculum plans are created within and beyond the national curriculum with Maths, English and Science having high priority. Pupils complete end of keystage tests. St Peter's School is justifiably proud of the excellent results attained year after year.

In addition to the subjects studied at Key Stage One, verbal and non-verbal reasoning is also included in the Key Stage Two curriculum.

The subjects taught are:

  • Mathematics
  • English (including reading, comprehension, writing for different purposes, spelling, handwriting, library skills)
  • Science
  • Geography
  • History
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Art and design technology
  • French
  • Verbal and non verbal reasoning
  • Religious Education
  • Personal, Social and Health Education
  • PE, Swimming and Games

“The caring atmosphere, excellent teaching and plentiful extra-curricular events helped prepare our daughter effectively for senior school”.

(Parent comment)

“Pupils in Year Six reported that they expected to settle in quickly and achieve well in their chosen secondary schools. During interviews they demonstrated appropriate presentation, organisation and self-evaluation skills, and showed they have the right attributes to be successful. The school prepares its pupils very well for the next stage of their education. The thorough grounding in English, Mathematics and Science ensures that these pupils will make a good start.”
