Homework is a valued part of the learning process, essential for both academic and personal development.
Its aim is to consolidate work covered during the School day and/or prepare for lessons taking place the following day.
Homework also gives children a flavour of personal responsibility in terms of school work, preparing them for their senior years in education. Working in a structured and disciplined way at home contributes to success at examination level.
Regular reading aloud to parents forms a core part of homework set for Reception, Year One and Year Two.
In Year Three onwards, each class has a specific homework timetable set at the start of each year.
The homework tasks set are aimed at being realistic within the available time and individual capabilities are taken into consideration too.
